Q. Can I have a server custom built?
A. Yes. With Polywell as our channel partner, we can custom build a configuration to suit your needs. Please contact Sales for a quote.

Q. Are you an ISP providing residential internet service?
A. We do not provide residential internet service. We provide connectivity to businesses, small and large.

Q. Why do you sell packaged servers and dedicated servers separately?
A. The packaged servers are bundled with specific amount of bandwidth for the price but you may purchase a server separately or provide one you already own and negotiate bandwidth prices.

Q. What kind of security is in place at your colo?
A. Due to Asian government requirements, our servers are located behind a 24hour security force, RF Identification Tags and Thumb Print Identification access only.

Q. If I can't come to San Francisco, can I see pictures or video of the colo?
A. Yes we have 24-hour Web Access security monitoring for all clients to view and monitor.

Q. How difficult is it to get some work done on my own server at your facility?
A. Our NocWiz web based software will allow you to issue trouble tickets quickly and our 24/7 staff will quickly resolve your issues. Please see our Policies pages for service times.

Q. What emergency backup facilities are implemented at your 200 Paul colo?
A. Our colo Facility is spread across 2 floors at the 200 Paul Colo, each with abundant backed-up UPS AC & DC power system at 3200 Amps, a redundant 2500KVA unit substation and redundant 2200KW Caterpillar Diesel generators with a 6000 gallon Convalt fuel tank, all with 24/7 monitoring of all critical infrastructure.

Q. Who supports your network and my equipment?
A. With a staff of 39 on three continents, our core staff have been working in this industry since the inception of the world wide web.

Q. We need more bandwidth than your standard listed services. Can you handle this?
A. Yes we can accommodate any size request for your equipment space. We can handle any amount of bandwidth that you desire on our 385 Gbps quad redundant network back plane.

Q. Do you re-negotiate contracts for upgrades?
A. Yes, we want to encourage business growth and are surprisingly flexible when it comes to negotiating and re-negotiating contracts.

Q. Where is your colocation facility located?
A. Our Colocation facility is located in San Francisco, at 200 Paul St, a carrier neutral facility, between 2 sets of railroad tracks that hold the fiber connections that span the whole west coast. This location enables us to cross connect to all of the major tier 1 providers in the United States.

Q. What features do your colocation facility have?
A. This is one of the most modern facilities in America. The 200 Paul facility is fully managed and include enterprise class security systems and monitoring, redundant KAV climate control systems (air conditioning and humidity controls), three levels of fire detection/protection via VESDA Air Sampling and FM200 Fire dry fire suppression, advanced seismic design, abundant backed-up UPS AC & DC power system at 3200 Amps, a redundant 2500KVA unit substation and redundant 2200KW Caterpillar Diesel generators with a 6000 gallon Convalt fuel tank, all with 24/7 monitoring of all critical infrastructure.

Q. Are you SAS 70 compliant?
A. Yes the colocation facility at 200 Paul is SAS 70 compliant, which is the highest earthquake safety rating obtainable.

Q. Why are your network routes to and from Asia so fast?
A. On our Multihomed Fiber Optic network we have made peering agreements with our Tier 1 Bandwidth providers and Private and Public Peering to effectively force our network routes to be the least amount of hops from our facility to the main Trans Pacific Fiber Optic connections. This gives us the fastest connections to and from our facility to the long haul fiber that spans the Pacific Ocean to Asia.

Q. Why should we colocate our servers in America when our customers are in Asia?
A. The first reason is Price. We can save your company up to 70% the cost of hosting in Asia! The second reason is technology. We are near the heart of Silicon Valley, and have access to the latest technology. This ensures that you will have state of the art equipment connecting to your servers.

Q. What form of payments do you accept?
A. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, ACH direct withdraw, Company Checks, Wire Transfers and PayPal. Contact us for more information.

Q. May I send you any size server or equipment?
A. Yes, we will take any size server or network device as long as it fits in the rack. We also sell by 1u, Quarter, half, and full rack and multiple racks if you have a very large server or many servers and equipment. If your machine is not rack-mountable, such as a mini-tower server, you will need to supply us with a standard rack-mountable shelf or we can supply them, and you will need to purchase the correct amount of space.(Tower hosting is expensive)

Q. May I resell your services?
A. Yes. Everything we offer you can resell. You can become an Affiliate here!

Q. Will you please explain your Remote Hands Service?
A. Remote Hands is one of our Engineers at the ISP performing some kind of work on your server. This can range from equipment upgrades to server outages. Remote Hands is not charged on your initial set up.

Q. Can you please explain your Remote Reboot Service?
A. We use remote reboot switches on all of the servers and equipment at our facility. If you are having a server or equipment issue, and you have tried everything to get your equipment to come back on line, you can then log in via the web to your Remote Reboot switch and turn off the power to this device and then turn the power back on to start as if the equipment was being started for the first time. Usually, unless there is a hardware failure or corrupt Operating system your system will come back on line after rebooting. This saves on unnecessary trouble tickets, phone calls and down time for your company. This is one of the features of PIE that saves you money and allows us to offer you better services at a greatly reduced price.

Q. Will you please explain your Remote IP KVM connectivity?
A. We use remote KVM over IP connection devices on all of the servers and equipment at our facility. This allows for your technical staff to access your servers while the server is booting. You will be able to go into the Bios and make changes and make changes as your server is booting up. This will appear exactly like you were in front of the monitor connected directly to your server.

Q. Will you please explain your NocWiz Admin Service?
A. NocWiz is our Administration program that allows us to communicate and monitor the network with one system. Once you sign up for a Plan, we add your company to NocWiz. You will then be sent an email with your login to your NocWiz Admin area. In NocWiz you will be able to open trouble tickets, add services, pay invoices, view all your financial history with PIE, monitor your servers, SSH, view RTG charts and more. This allows for the most efficient customer, server and Data Center communications. Our Goal with NocWiz is to all you do all your administration of your servers from within a 100% online system. This will allow you to administer your servers from any internet browser.

Q. What Operating Systems are your engineers fluent with?
Our Engineers our able to install these operating systems for your servers: Redhat Linux, FreeBSD, and Windows NT.

Q. What networking equipment do you use?
A. We only use state of the art Force10 networking equipment . Plus we use APC power reboot switches and Belkin Remote KVM devices. We only use 100% certified CAT6 cables and AMP dual mode Fiber Optic cables.

Q. Do you support IPv6?
A. Yes, our networking equipment and our DNS's are configured to use the emerging technology of IPv6. We have servers million IPv6 addressed allocation to PIE.

Q. Can you please explain RTG?
The Realtime Traffic Grapher (RTG) is a tool to monitor the traffic load on network-links. RTG generates HTML pages containing graphical images which provide a LIVE visual representation of this traffic.

Q. Do you offer a fully managed server solution?

Q. How can we test for network issues?
You can monitor, do SSH , KVM and reboot your switch from within our NocWiz program from any internet connection.

Q. We are having server / network issues, how do we open a trouble ticket?
A. Please log into your NocWiz Admin Account. This is the quickest way to resolve server / network issues.

Q. How long have you been in business?
A. PIE as a company that was created in 2003, but has been in the hosting business under the name N.T. Technology since 1996. N.T. Technology decided it was time to expand and open an additional data center with the wholesale customer as the primary focus.

Q. Where can I find whois information on PIE network?
A. We provide a full rwhois server for information about domains and IPs used on our network.

Q. What is your policy on allocating large IP blocks?
